A laser medicine technician at Silk Spa, Christina Westafer is also committed to a number of charitable endeavors. In addition to contributing time to various nursing homes and faith-based groups within her community, Christina Westafer supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

In an effort to raise funding to support families and children, RMHC is establishing a marathon team to run the 2015 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Participants not only gain the satisfaction of completing a marathon, but their participation and fundraising efforts also help patients remain close to their families as they combat life-threatening illnesses.

The race takes place on October 12 at Grant Park. Individuals joining Team RMHC receive a complimentary race entry as well as access to a discounted marathon training program and a Web page to collect donations. Each team member is asked to raise $1,500 to contribute to the cause. A marathon eve pasta dinner and Team RMHC technical running shirt are also supplied.
